And it’s so easy to man. There may be someone out there who doesn’t like the taste of amaretto, but most people love this almond-flavored liqueur.

History of the Amaretto Sour

The original utgåva of this drink didn’t call for egg whites so you can go with whatever you prefer. Let’s talk about how the egg foam utgåva got started.

The Jeffry Morgenthaler Recipe

Bartender Jeffrey Morgenthaler published his modern twist on this classic blandad drink of this recipe in 2012. 

Unlike the original recipe, Morgenthaler’s utgåva uses fresh lemon fruktsaft instead of sour mix, giving the drink a brighter and more vibrant flavor.

Instead of using regular granulated sugar, Morgenthaler opts for rik simple syrup (two parts sugar to one part water), which helps to balance the skärpa of the lemon fruktsaft and the sweetness of the amaretto.

Morgenthaler also adds an egg vit to his recipe, which gives the blandad drink a creamy and frothy texture, elevating it to a whole new level.

You can also use Luxardo maraschino cherries. They’re simple maraschinos, but they’re not candied into oblivion. They have a rik, complex taste.

Instructions

  1. Optional: If you're using egg, beat your egg vit to a foam. If using Aquafaba, man it just before preparing the drink.

Notes
